Job overview
We are seeking a Trainee Integrated Sexual Health Practitioner to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be required to undertake up to a 24-month training/learning/development programme upon commencement of this role, with an aim to complete a programme of qualifications and acquire the necessary skills, knowledge and experience in this field.
Our Integrated Sexual Health Service offers: Contraception. Sexual Health screening, diagnosis, advice and treatment. Pregnancy advisory Clinics. Menopause Clinics. Specialist HIV Service amongst other specialities.
Our service also works collaboratively with Public Health Wales..
Completion of the qualification/learning and achievement of postgraduate experience is a requirement of the contract of employment for Annex 21 candidates.
During this 24-month training period, salary will be paid in accordance with Annex 21 of the Terms and Conditions as follows:
Months 1 - 12 of the training period will be paid at 70% of the top of Band 6 pay scale,
Months 13 - 24 of the training period will be paid at 75% of the top of Band 6 pay scale.
Upon successful attainment of the identified qualification/experience/competencies, even if sooner than the 24-month allocated timeframe, the post holder will automatically move to the Band 6 as they will then meet the full KSF outline of this role and be expected to undertake all duties within the Job Description as indicated.
Main duties of the job
The post holder has direct clinical involvement and will be an experienced practitioner in Sexual & Reproductive Health e.g. Contraception & Sexual Health (ISH) /Termination of Pregnancy, Women’s Health. The post holder will possess specialist knowledge and skills relating to these areas of work.
The post holder will be responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of quality care within the scope of agreed standards within the Integrated Sexual/Women’s health Services, both in the clinic and community setting.
The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner and able to work as part of a team in all areas within the service provision.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse.
- Family Planning Certificate/ FSRH Diploma.
- STIF course/equivalent or prepared undertake.
- Venepuncture.
- Mentorship or equivalent. Non–medical prescriber or be prepared to undertake
Desirable criteria
- Teaching/Assessing Module or equivalent.
- CSW smear takers course or be prepared to undertake.
- Implant training or working towards.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Specialist working knowledge and relevant practical experience in Integrated Sexual & Reproductive Health [ISRH].
- Relevant experience in relevant clinical area i.e. contraception, sexual & reproductive health.
- Ability to produce written and verbal reports pertinent to the post, i.e. individual patient departmental documentation.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of audit/ recording in relation to patient quality data.
- Evidence of showing development of leadership skills required for sphere of responsibility, i.e. organisational, interpersonal operational skills.
- Evidence of multi-disciplinary working.
