Job overview

The post holder will provide nursing care to children and young people who have additional/complex needs within a Special School or Observation Unit within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and will work within clearly defined occupational policies, codes of practice and professional guidelines.

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Main duties of the job

Do you have a passion for working with children with additional and complex health needs and are looking to develop your knowledge and skills in this field. If so we currently have a band 5 vacancy to work in  Ysgol Ty Coch Special School in Cwm Taf Morgannwg.

The postholder will work within clearly defined occupational policy, codes of practice and professional guidelines and will work as part of the Childrens Community Nursing Team. The post is based in Ysgol Ty Coch and is term time only.

The post holder will be responsible for the planning and delivery of training packages within the school and provide ongoing support, training and supervision for a team of health care support workers and learning support assistants. They will also support the Health and MDT clinics held within the school environment.

We are looking for someone who is able to work autonomously is motivated, reliable, innovative but also enjoys working as part of a team.

Working collaboratively with other agencies is essential so excellent communication skills are required.

Comprehensive induction and ongoing training will be provided.

  • Post registration experience in Child Health and Wellbeing
  • Experience of working with children with additional/complex needs
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in community or school setting

Welsh language

  • Welsh Skills Desirable (Level 3/B2 or above)
