Job overview

The post is that of a Staff Nurse and the post holder will be expected to undertake duties within Care of the Elderly patients within our newly created ward at Ysbyty George Thomas Hospital

Fernhill Ward/Dinas Ward is a combined unit of 58 beds, specialising in care of the elderly. Caring for clinically optimised patients and supporting discharge planning whether that be to go home or transfer to residential/nursing home

The post holder will carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and indirect care for the benefit of the patient/client in accordance with agreed protocols.  

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all policies and procedures are observed, and meet Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) requirements, as well as NMC Standards and Codes of Practice. 

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This means Speaking & Listening at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2). We don’t need fluency. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see the ‘Croeso Candidate’ booklet below.

We provide all new staff with an induction period, a ‘buddy’ nurse and the opportunity to join our Clinical Supervision programme.
