Consultant Cardiologist

Consultant

Job overview

This is a replacement post to support the provision of cardiology services across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTM), based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. The Royal Glamorgan Hospital (RGH) has a history of developing high quality innovative cardiac services working closely and collaboratively with our tertiary centre colleagues at the University Hospital of Wales. We would aim to support the successful candidate in their relevant sub-speciality interest however due to a recent appointment of our second arrhythmia/cardiac devices consultant we are unlikely to appoint a further cardiac devices specialist.

Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the ‘Unscheduled Care Group’ in providing a specialist cardiology service primarily at RGH. There will be an expectation to manage inpatients allocated to cardiology as part of the acute medical intake as well as taking referrals and giving advice to physician colleagues regarding the care of cardiac patients.  As such the post holder will be expected to work closely with colleagues in the cardiology department to develop a consistent, multi-disciplinary approach to the care for patients with cardiac conditions throughout the care group and the Health Board. The successful candidate will also be supported to continue to develop their sub-specialty cardiology skills with the expectation of delivering high-quality specialist services for CTM patients.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable at Level 3 Speaking/Listening (or ‘B1’ Level if you’ve learnt Welsh as an adult). This doesn’t mean you have to be fluent or able to write long reports in Welsh; it just means being able to hold simple conversations with patients. Have a look at the ‘Croeso Candidate!’ guide attached below for more information.
