Job overview

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the small and friendly team at the  Royal Glamorgan Hospital, with a requirment to work accross sites if required.

The Outpatients Departmetn  facilitates the needs of patients requiring care and treatment for a wide range of  conditions.  The department can be busy; so staff must be able to multi skill and work under pressure.  Staff must be fit to stand for periods of time. 

The successful candidate must be able to perform the tasks of Patient observations and basic wound care.   Staff must be friendly and approachable and have the abilit to reassure and support patients thropughout their journey through the unit.  These are an essential part of the role. 

Support will be given to the successful candidate to learn the various clinics and procedures associated with them. 

The department operates over 5 days;  Monday to Friday. Shifts are allocated to clinical need. 

Applicants must be flexible to the service. 

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this post are;

* Facilitating clinics

* Recording observations

* Basic wound care

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

  • Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3/B2 or above

Clinic/health care experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with the public in a health care setting
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team

Ability to record observations

  • Recording BP, Pulse, Oxygen sats, weight amd BMI

Flexibility

  • Flexible to work 23 hours over 5 days in line with clinical need.
