Are you a qualified Electrician looking for a rewarding role where your skills directly support patient care?
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking a motivated and skilled Electrician to join our Estates and Facilities team.
You will play a vital role in maintaining essential electrical services across our healthcare sites, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant environments for patients, visitors and colleagues.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a diverse and technically challenging healthcare environment, supporting a wide range of building services, engineering systems and critical infrastructure.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Electrician, you will provide specialist electrical maintenance, fault finding, repair and installation services across Health Board premises.
Your work will include:
- Planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs
- Installation and maintenance of lighting and power systems
- Emergency lighting testing and maintenance
- Fire alarm testing and isolations
- Generator and battery testing
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Air Handling Units and associated plant
- Replacement of motors, pumps and electrical equipment
- Inspection, testing and certification in accordance with current regulations
- Supporting contractors and participating in site safety procedures
- Responding to emergency breakdowns and critical service failures
You will work on a range of industrial, commercial and domestic electrical systems and be expected to support the wider Estates service through a flexible, multi-skilled approach.

Qualification and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Completed an accredited electrical apprenticeship training course to a minimum level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent
- High level of knowledge and understanding of electrical/mechanical services/systems and a working knowledge of other associated trades.
- Familiarity with approved guidance documents
- Ability to cover shift at short notice or cover periods of sickness & annual leave
Desirable criteria
- IEE wiring regulations
- CSCS or ECS
- Knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda
- General awareness of other engineering maintenance related statutory legislation.
Experience
Essential criteria
- General Lighting & Power systems
- Emergency lighting Systems

- BMS system
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working within the NHS.
