Job overview
Are you a Dietitian looking to develop your skills working with a small supportive team in the inpatient setting? We are looking for a dietitian with some existing post registration experience to join us in a band 6 role due to internal promotion within the team.
This post is advertised as full time but applicants preferring part time hours are also welcome to apply.
Nevill Hall is one of the ABUHB Enhanced Local General Hospitals and provides acute inpatient care to residents of North Gwent and South Powys. Abergavenny has recently been identified as one of the best places to live in Wales, with stunning views of the Black Mountains and good train links to Hereford, Newport and Cardiff. The site takes regular step down patients from Grange University Hospital and therefore your caseload will be a mix of oral nutrition support and enteral tube feeding for patients with multiple co-morbidities, including those stepped down from the critical care centre.
Main duties of the job
Your role will primarily involve dietetic care of patients in the inpatient setting at Nevill Hall Hospital (NHH). However there may also have some opportunity to cover outpatient work via a mixture of face to face, video and telephone clinics and virtual group education via MS Teams.
You will have the support of colleagues within the Dietetic team and opportunity to join regular team meetings, accessing CPD opportunities. This specialist team has a health board wide remit and the successful post holders may be asked to cover clinical work in other health board locations.
We are a team of 30 dietitians working across the specialities of Nutrition Support, Gastroenterology, Stroke, Oncology and Diabetes and work with a team of 14 dietetic support and admin staff. We actively participate in the dietetic student training programme for Wales.
We will support your development within this role via our CPD programme and regular reviews with the relevant Lead Dietitian. Opportunity to apply for funding to complete related courses (e.g. Masters module in evidence based practice, BDA courses) is available.
Our core department hours are 8.30 - 4.30 but we work flexibly and within our guidance there will be scope for you to adjust working hours to fit around personal commitments.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
