Job overview

To provide a full confidential secretarial service to the  Respiratory Consultants and their team within Nevill Hall hospital. 

 

Carrying out duties as defined by the Assistant Directorate Manager and Service Improvement Manager to meet the needs of the service.

 

Managing and prioritising your workload, working independently to defined policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

Providing secretarial support to the Consultant and extended team, along with provision of general support throughout the department as and when required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Typing of correspondence, clinic letters and discharge summaries accurately  in a timely manner to meet departmental standards, thus requiring a high level of keyboard skills & knowledge of  medical terminology.  Audio/copy typing any other correspondence as required.  

Providing secretarial support to the Consultant and extended team, along with provision of general support throughout the department as and when required.

Ensuring urgent correspondence and investigations are actioned appropriately.

Exercising tact & judgement when dealing with enquiries.

 

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a Secretarial post
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience and experience of working as a Medical Secretary
  • Experience of working in a hospital environment

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Keyboard skills to RSA III or equivalent.
  • Audio Typing
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of CWS, Myrddyn, Med Secs

Education

Essential criteria
  • English Language GCSE `O` level or equivalent, good standard of education
