Band 3, Health Care Support Worker

1 X 37.5 hour contract and 1 X 25 hour contract

The main duties of the posts are to care for individuals with complex health care needs in their own homes within the community. 

Currently we are unable to provide certificates of sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the Home Office’s criteria. Anyone requiring a certificate of sponsorship is therefore unable to be shortlisted and interviewed.

This role is currently under review within the Health Board and will result in the issuing of a revised  band 3 job description. If appointed, your manager will ensure you are kept informed and support you through any changes, including discussing relevant training requirements.

Main duties of the job

Are you someone who has an interest working with an individual with complex health needs who wants an exciting new challenge?

Vibrant suitably experienced Health Care Support Workers are required to care for a lady with Complex Health needs living in the Monmouth Area to lead a fulfilling and independent life.

HCSWS should have knowledge and experience of working with patients with complex health needs, a background of working with individuals with neurological conditions or learning disabilities is desirable but not essential and HCSW’s are welcomed who would be willing to learn these skills. The shift pattern would be days and nights, but the role would include a rotation of shifts to meet the needs of the service and ensure skill competency is compliant.

Successful staff will be expected to enable the individuals to live a full and productive life supporting physical and psychosocial needs within her family unit. This unique opportunity allows the nurse to develop a relationship with the patient to know her individual needs and health needs to provide high, quality nursing care.

Recent NHS or Care Home experience  is essential.

 A valid driving licence for the UK.

A proven track record of being reliable and dependable.

A flexible approach to work would be a great advantage.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or • Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and worked based training/short courses.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) .

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a relevant heath or social care environment, providing direct patient care.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with patient groups relevant to area of practice.
  • Experience of working within the NHS

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Physically able to carry out the duties of the role, including lifting, assisting with mobility, and performing other manual tasks.
  • Full UK driving licence
