Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum.

This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time (37.5 hours) occupational therapy support worker to work on the inpatient acute mental health unit, St Cadoc's Hospital.  The Occupational Therapy team consists of a Band 7 and Band 5 rotational Occupational Therapist.  The Occupational Therapy support worker will:

  • Undertake specific skilled occupational therapy support work such as carrying out assessments 
  • Plan and implement interventions on a 1:1 a basis and facilitate groups, using various treatment skills and to monitor progress and evaluate the outcome under supervision from the team

 

 

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team providing Occupational Therapy interventions under the direction of a qualified Occupational Therapist (OT).

OT's work with individuals to establish the impact of their mental health needs on their day to day functioning. They devise person-centred plans for intervention (group and one to one including facilitation of the 'discovery through activity' OT programme) with the individual to further assess, improve or maintain their functional ability.

Interventions offered on the ward and in the community aim to address an individual goals in line with recovery based practice.

The successful applicant will:

- have the ability to think creatively and flexibly
- be able to demonstrate empathy, compassion and values of person-centred care.

The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board OT service is committed to delivering a high quality service and therefore requires that all OT support workers participate in the Agored training programme.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Home and community visits are a part of this service, the ability to travel between sites is essential for this post.
