As the Adults Programme Manager, you will be an essential member of the Gwent Regional Partnership Board Support Team (PMO) within the ABUHB Corporate Planning Team. Our team is based in St Cadocs Hospital in Caerleon, and you will be working at our office and from home.

This post is fixed term for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, direction, and programme management for a broad portfolio of projects and programmes across several revenue streams and delivered by a range of partners. They will ensure portfolio alignment with national policy and RPB priorities. They will also be responsible for ensuring good governance, including supporting project and programme change requests; managing, mitigating and escalating risks at a project-, programme- and portfolio-level; and supporting informed decision-making at the appropriate level. The postholder will lead and oversee the projects and programmes to ensure deliverables enhance services, improve the health and care system and demonstrate the difference made for the population of Gwent.

The Adults Programme Manager will operate in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, managing multiple complex and interdependent projects and programmes simultaneously. The role requires prioritisation skills, resilience, and the ability to respond quickly and effectively to emerging issues, shifting deadlines, and the demands of partners and Welsh Government. In supporting successful project and programme initiation, implementation and delivery, the postholder will engage stakeholders to define priorities, and implement processes. They will provide leadership on performance and outcomes reporting and will hold responsibility for reporting on the adult’s portfolio to Welsh Government and RPB.

  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience
  • Trained in a project or programme management methodology (e.g. PRINCE2 or MSP), or equivalent experience

  • Significant experience of management and managing multiple complex projects / programmes simultaneously at a senior level
  • Experience of effective partnership working in the public sector, including effective stakeholder management when working with external bodies
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality outputs within tight deadlines and respond flexibly to changing priorities across organisational boundaries
  • Experience of working with highly complex information and using persuasive and effective communication skills in connection with this information
