Dietetic Assistant Practitioner (Community)
Band 4
Job overview
Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner – Community Dietetics ABUHB
We are seeking a new member of the Community Dietetic team to work at Assistant Practitioner level and support the work of the Community Dietitians. This post would suit someone who is organised, likes to work in a community healthcare environment and enjoys working in a caring role. We would value a candidate with good communication skills who can champion the importance of nutrition in the healthcare setting with enthusiasm. Although some existing knowledge of nutrition and experience working in the care setting will be of benefit, training will be provided - your ability to work as part of a team and provide care in a compassionate manner are most important.
The successful candidate will support the care pathways for patients at risk of malnutrition and receiving nutritional supplements in the community, carrying a delegated caseload with supervision from a registered dietitian.
Main duties of the job
This role sits as part of the Community Dietetic Team based in Ty Gwent, ABUHB Community office space in Llantarnam, Cwmbran. You will work as part of the team of dietetic staff covering primary care dietetic work. We envisage the postholder will run an outpatient clinic and cover telephone consultations to review patients receiving nutritional care from Dietetics.
There will be opportunity to expand the allocated caseload and cover other duties within the wider Dietetic community team, including Diabetes Group Education, Nutrition Skills for Life Education, Home Enteral Feeding, care home visits and Diabetes Prevention project work.
Our ideal candidate will also enjoy completing administrative tasks to support patient care and therefore have good IT skills.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
