Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic, adaptable, compassionate individual with management and clinical experience at Band 7 level including managing various specialities and services.  Experience of inpatient, outpatient and clinical nurse specialist work would be desirable.  This will involve cross site working involving all 4 sites but the successful candidate will be based at The Grange University Hospital.

The Senior Nurse is a visible, authoritative and professional clinical leader with responsibility for the direction of nursing, implementation of the corporate nursing agenda, enhancement/modernisation of clinical practice and development of clinical staff to optimise the patient and family experience of care.

The Senior Nurse has a day to day professional and operational responsibility for a defined area/speciality, supporting the Directorate Manager to assure high quality, effective and efficient patient services. 

Main duties of the job

  • To provide professional leadership, acting as a role model, supporting staff employed within the locality to deliver high quality, effective and efficient care.
  • To participate in the design and delivery of the corporate nursing agenda and Divisional aims and objectives.
  • To lead specific projects on behalf of the Service/Division, as agreed with the Directorate Manager and Divisional Lead Nurse.
  • To work as a skilled change agent and educator, enabling and empowering clinical staff to develop/modernise practice, liaising with relevant Specialist/Consultant Nurses to ensure practice is evidence-based.
  • To strengthen and develop the leadership skills of clinical teams, empowering Band 7 Nurses to further enhance the delivery of patient focused care

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
