Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum.

This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, flexible and enthusiastic  Healthcare Support Worker to join our friendly nursing team working within gynaecology and surgery.

The post is based on Ward A3, The Grange University Hospital which is a 22 bedded ward. Also within the ward is the Emergency Gynaecology Assessment unit and the Early Pregnancy assessment Unit.

The successful applicant needs to have a interest in women's health and prior experience would be desirable but not essential as training and support will be offered. This opportunity will help you to develop your skills and experience whilst making a difference to patient care.

Applicants will be supported in an informal visit to the area if they wish and opportunities to ask questions.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The successful applicant will work as part of a team that provides health care services to patients within an inpatient ward/ department, focusing on the direct needs of patients undergoing healthcare treatments.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ/OCF Level 2 in health and social care or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma in health care.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to complete physical observations including blood pressures, height and weight measurements.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to take blood. Basic IT skills and knowledge. Use of ABUHB IT systems.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience working within a healthcare setting.
Desirable criteria
  • Working within a gynaecology setting.
