Job overview
The Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow post is offered as part of an innovative and ongoing teaching initiative which seeks to professionalise clinical teaching, at the same time as allowing individuals to develop their own teaching skills and expertise in medical education. Suited to individuals with a keen interest and demonstrable experience in undergraduate and postgraduate education, candidates should have completed core training or equivalent level in the NHS and will be encouraged to pursue their own specific areas of educational development which could include simulation training, clinical skills training, human factors and clinical teaching. The successful candidate will provide support and leadership to other CTF posts within the organisation.
Main duties of the job
Postholders will be required to support all five years of the undergraduate medical curriculum, providing varied input from bedside teaching to simulation and clinical skills teaching. In addition, the postholder will be required to support postgraduate medical education up to ST3 level for generic clinical skills and medical simulation and skills teaching. Depending on the pathway chosen, postholders will develop additional teaching for simulation, human factors and/or clinical skills, incorporating quality improvement principles as appropriate. Postholders will become members of the Medical Education Faculty, supporting Faculty Leads and teaching leads in the delivery of medical education across the Health Board.
