Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the  living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until  the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed

Job overview

The successful applicant will work in an exciting new role within the developing 24 hour Liaison Mental Health Service based within the Grange University Hospital.  The role will involve the treatment and care of service users who are experiencing severe mental health difficulties within the emergency and district general hospital setting within Gwent.  Whilst based in the Grange, the successful applicants will in-reach to the local hospitals in Newport and Abergavenny. 

You will be part of a dynamic team who are passionate about person centred care and delivering the best outcomes for our service users. You will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a Team Leader, Clinical Lead, Administrators and in-reach from a Medic and other Professionals.  

A variety of shifts can be worked, including 12 hours throughout a 24 hour, 7 day week  to ensure a work/life balance for our staff. 

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant must be highly motivated, innovative, enthusiastic and passionate about service user centered care. You will be committed to ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality care and contribute to the development of the Liaison service  across Gwent. 

As part of a pan Gwent Service the successful candidates will be expected to work across District General Hospitals and will have knowledge and experience in the care of people experiencing acute mental distress, excellent clinical skills in risk assessment and a sound knowledge of appropriate therapeutic interventions

This position is open to Professional Qualified Mental Health Workers including Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers.  

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
