Job overview
The Department of Stroke Medicine/Geriatric is appointing an (Senior Clinical Fellow) IMT3 level doctor to support Acute Stroke in patients at the Grange University Hospital.
The post will be ward based with the opportunity to attend specialist outpatient clinics and observe inpatient endoscopy (there will be no formal endoscopy training associated with this post).
The successful applicant will consolidate their existing skills and experience in medicine within a busy Stroke department. Exposure to a wide range of stroke specific conditions with place them in an excellent position when applying for further training within the speciality.
The post will include on call in General Internal medicine at IMT 3 level, on the 1:18 rolling on call rota.

Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities are for the effective and appropriate medical care of inpatients admitted under the care of the Consultant Stroke Physician
The duties and responsibilities will be appropriate to the grade and speciality with appropriate consultant supervision
This will include the assessment, monitoring and initiating treatment, with colleagues and under consultant supervision
Attend consultant and multidisciplinary ward rounds, and supervise relevant junior medical students who may rotate through the directorate
Undertake regular unsupervised ward rounds on the relevant ward to ensure patients are making satisfactory progress
Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion
Attend clinic as part of continuing professional development
Research and service outcome evaluation will be the key part of this job and you will have one session for this as part of this clinical fellow post
