Job overview

The post advertised has become available as a replacement into an existing Consultant complement. This is a 10-session post providing senior medical input into community care and inpatient services for a defined population in Blaenau Gwent. 

The post holder will join a forward thinking, compassionate and proactive Community Mental Health Team and inpatient service who have recently received a very positive outcome following a visit from Health Inspectorate Wales (HIW). 

The role will also provide an acute service into the inpatient unit and the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) serving the area. These are strong links between the members of the multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team, GPs and voluntary agencies.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will take lead in providing a service to adults of working age within the North Blaenau Gwent borough catchment area. The post holder will conduct outpatient clinics at Cwm Coch based in the district general hospital, Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan and within the community/home visits including CTP reviews and 117 review meetings.

They will also run a weekly ward round and undertake other required reviews for the inpatients who are admitted under their care for Carn y Cefn ward. As an integrated team member, they will foster close working relationships with other members of the community team and with partner organisations.
