Would you like to support the development and maintenance of our Gwent Public Health team webpages? Do you enjoy reviewing and fixing website issues? Do you have experience of, or would like to learn more about, web scraping and API methodsThis is an exciting opportunity to join the Gwent Public Health team as Digital Officer. A key role within the team, the successful candidate will contribute to our ambition of developing our web-based solutions to promote the important work being undertaken by the Gwent Public Health team 

Main duties of the job

This role will be central to developing our ability to host our outputs which help tell the story of Gwent. Identifying and resolving any issues or errors across the Gwent Public Health team websites, supporting the internal presence of the Communications and Engagement team, and gathering published data sources from websites are key tasks within this role. Being open to offering ideas for process improvement and making suggestions for innovation is very important to the development of this roleThe successful candidate will also support the creation of online surveys and web-based feedback tools.   

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifactions and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Relevant ICT Related BSc Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant Web Development role
  • Knowledge of managing content management systems.
  • Knowledge of managing a SharePoint (Web) server farm and external web servers.
  • Understanding and practical experience of development in Cascade, MURA, HTML, Javascript, CSS, graphics creation, multimedia creation.
Desirable criteria
  • Commitment to team working
  • Knowledge or experience of automated extraction of data from websites (data scraping)
  • Knowledge or experience of Python

Skills and Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Ability to fix system problems under pressure
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload in a busy and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write reports.
  • Strong attention to detail with a keen eye for accuracy.
  • Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh (please delete as appropriate)

  • Able to work collaboratively with key stakeholders – particularly managers of pages on the intranet and internet sites

  • Able to respond promptly to travel to other Health Board localities when required.

Exprience

  • Extensive experience of website, intranet and online system management.
  • Experience of planning and delivering training.
