Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum.

This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Occupational Therapy team working with people admitted to the in-patient community bedded wards in the Royal Gwent Hospital.

 The post holder will need to be flexible to service needs, possess excellent self-management skills and administer their caseload efficiently to ensure effective intervention. They will focus on working across the hospital and community meeting a person's ongoing occupational therapy needs through the seamless transfer of care, from hospital to home. This will ensure efficient discharge planning working closely with the multidisciplinary team, discharge liaison team, hospital discharge assistants, community resource teams and local authorities to ensure effective cross boundary and agency work.

Main duties of the job

Working in collaboration with the Team Lead Occupational Therapist and OT colleagues, the post holder will help support and influence the ongoing development of OT provision within clinical areas, with a focus on the rehabilitation and discharge to assess and recover service model.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Some specific training related to clinical area, e.g., manual handling
  • Practice Placement Educator Apple accredited
  • Up to date professional portfolio/evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of RCOT

Skills & Attributes

Essential criteria
  • • Physically fit to undertake duties as specified in the job description e.g., moving people or equipment,
  • • Specialist knowledge and application of OT assessments and interventions relevant to the discharge home of patients with complex needs
