Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Dermatology Department of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. Due to ongoing service demands there is the need to recruit a Locum Consultant Dermatologist with a specialist interest in Skin Cancer.

 This opportunity will allow the successful applicant to join the innovative, award winning and renowned Dermatology team based in St Woolos Hospital.

 Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is the largest Health Board in South Wales and serves a diverse population of approximately 670,000 across 4 main sites. The Dermatology Department has a consultant body that provides a comprehensive secondary care service.

The number of SPA’s may vary with the agreement of the post holder and the Health Board in advance or after commencement and an increase in SPA’s would accompany an agreement to take on additional duties such as educational supervision of a junior doctor.

Main duties of the job

This post is to support the Dermatology Directorate with the Skin Cancer Service and Medical Dermatology clinics, providing an opportunity to join an enthusiastic and forward-thinking department.  To be a key decision maker in the long-term planning of the Dermatology service, working to support and improve the existing Skin Cancer Service.

As a senior employee of the Health Board the post holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Board’s patients.

There is a well-established Skin Cancer service supported by a team of Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists. Skin Cancer clinics are held on multiple ABUHB sites, SWH/RGH/NHH.
