Job overview

Are you a Dietitian keen to specialise in the rewarding clinical speciality of Oncology?  We are seeking a dietitian with some post registration experience to join us, based in the Royal Gwent Hospital. This post will afford the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team alongside specialist nurses, surgeons, oncologists and other therapists. Some existing experience in this clinical area or managing the care of patients receiving enteral tube feeding would be an advantage.  Learning opportunities will be supported and could include advanced clinical educators module at postgraduate diploma level and BDA study days in oncology and enteral / parenteral nutrition.

 

Main duties of the job

 Working in both the inpatient and outpatient ABUHB settings, with the clinical guidance of our lead dietitians, you will provide the dietetic care to patients accessing treatment for a range of cancer diagnoses including upper and lower GI. The inpatient caseload would also include a mixed cohort of surgical patients and provide the opportunity to develop knowledge of parenteral nutrition. 

You will work collaboratively with colleagues based in the Velindre Cancer Centre and those working for leading cancer charities.  There will be opportunity to apply for Macmillan adoption and to access cross therapy training opportunities implemented by our AHP lead for Oncology, to support your development.   

The post holder should have already attained a sound knowledge and understanding of general dietetics within the NHS.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
