Job overview

We are undergoing one of the largest transformation programmes in NHS Wales and we are seeking people to come and join us to be part of something truly transformational. This is a rare opportunity to join our team to lead and support the delivery of the next stage of our innovative Clinical Futures Strategy. This is an essential leadership role as part of our diverse team and the variety of projects and part of the health system that you may be working with is both broad and exciting, from leading the development of a model of care ‘Home to home’ to redefining ways of working in clinical support services.

We are looking for someone with a passion for patient care and who has experience in managing projects or delivering change successfully within healthcare. The post holder will play a role in implementing the Clinical Futures strategy, as well as continuing to develop the Grange University Hospital and reconfiguring our network of Local General Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a key member of the Clinical Futures Programme team. This is a team that leads the redesign of clinical and operational services across all parts of the health system and supports the delivery of change.

They will lead service design, programme, project planning and delivery support with Divisions, facilitating delivery of key areas of the Clinical Futures strategy aimed at improving services across the ‘whole system’, from primary and community care, through to secondary and specialised services.  

The post holder will be responsible for identifying innovative and transformational service design opportunities, in line with the Clinical Futures strategy and the opening of the Grange University Hospital. The role then provides project, programme and tactical ‘hands-on’ support to Divisional teams to deliver the change with the Division and across the health system.

Essential criteria
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent level of demonstrable knowledge and experience
  • Qualification or equivalent project and programme management experience. Managing Successful Programmes or Prince2
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive previous senior NHS managerial experience
  • Experience of complex service planning in a Health or social care role
  • Experience of planning and implementing long-term strategy and change programmes
  • Knowledge of NHS policy
  • Proven track record of successfully introducing significant organisational change in a complex environment
  • Experience of strategic thinking at a senior level
  • Significant experience of working with staff at all levels within the NHS and external partner agencies
