Job overview
Due to promotion, there is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to develop their career in the Urology Department. We are seeking to appoint a Band 6 motivated nurse to work within the Urology Outpatient department.
The successful candidate will assist with the management of the department on a day-to-day basis by supporting and acting on behalf of the Manager.
You will ensure the provision of effective, efficient and appropriate high quality patient care.
Support the Band 7 in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care needs and quality assurance.
Support the Band 7 in running the Urology outpatient department.
Main duties of the job
Successfully complete a locally approved orientation programme.
To support a clinical environment that is patient and public focused.
To provide expert clinical advice to team members, and act as a credible clinical expert. Communicates sensitive information to patients and families in relation to their medical condition, requires persuasive,
reassurance skills; some patients may have barriers to understanding
To assess and interpret acute and patient conditions, appropriate action. Recognises and manages acutely unwell and complex patients that may need referral to inpatient services.
Assist and prepare for common invasive procedures:
Take bloods
Perform bladder chemotherapy
Teach patients to intermittently self-catheterise
Prep and assist in biopsies and cystoscopies
Perform complicated catheterisations
Perform supra pubic catheter changes
Undertake nurse led clinics
Identify abnormalities in diagnostic tests and blood results
Ensures the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply
