Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum.

This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Support Worker to join our Torfaen School Nursing Team, working 30 hours per week, all year round. 

This role is to work under the supervision of the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse) by contributing to the delivery of the Healthy Child Wales Programme, Child Measurement Programme, Vision Screening programme within the allocated teams/ boroughs and supporting the school based immunisation programme Gwent wide.

It is desirable that the successful candidate has experience of working in a similar role, however, full training will be given.  Experience of working with children and /or community experience is also an advantage. 

The successful candidate must be flexible to the needs of the service and able to meet the geographical defines of the role. 

Main duties of the job

As a member of the school nursing service you will be required to work in a variety of community settings in order to provide both clerical support as well as assigned clinical tasks involving direct contact with and care of school age children under the direction of the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse) and other qualified staff.
