Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 RNMH Deputy Ward Manager to work as part of our team on Ty Cyfannol Ward, YYF.

We are looking for an experienced RNMH who is highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic, who will demonstrate commitment to the ongoing development of our inpatient service. You will need the necessary clinical experience to lead and model excellent care delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring that high standards of care are delivered and maintained to patients admitted to our ward.

Ty Cyfannol is a 23 bedded acute mental health unit serving the Caerphilly Borough for patients from the age of 18 years to 65 years. The unit works closely with the West Gwent Home Treatment Team who gate keep admissions and facilitate the patients early discharge back to the community. The unit also works closely with the two Community Mental Health teams, Assertive Outreach Team and Early Intervention Teams from the catchment area. The unit has a holding bed for CAMHS patients.. 

The successful post holder will in the absence of the ward manager oversee the management of the ward and therefore leadership qualities, skills and attributes would be essential for the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job

As a Deputy Ward Manager you will be responsible for the assessment and implementation of high quality care to patients who are admitted to the inpatient environment. A key role is to provide support to patients and their families and loved ones during the admission and facilitate safe discharge.

Within this role you will provide expert clinical advice to junior members of staff and support the ward manager and senior nurse in running the ward in a professional, effective and safe manner. You will need to possess good sound knowledge and have experience in the care of older adults with complex needs and be able to demonstrate skills in clinical leadership.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply
