Job overview
This post is fixed term/secondment for 6 months to meet the needs of the service.
To be responsible for the management and issues related to medical staffing for Medicine at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr Hospital. This will include being the first point of contact for all medical staff within the Division and ensuring there is safe and adequate cover at all times. Supporting doctors and providing advice, support, information and on-call Rotas and timetables.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post is fixed term for 6 months to meet the needs of the service
Main duties of the job
Act as the initial point of contact for all Doctors within the Medicine Division on the YYF site. Ensure actions are put in place to resolve issues and secure adequate medical cover at all times.
Troubleshoot any daily problems associated with clinical cover for periods of leave, sickness and vacant posts and where possible adopt internal approaches to resolve that are cost effective and compliant with Junior doctor working regulations.
Communicate directly with Consultants, Clinical Directors, where necessary to agree solutions for any unresolved gaps in on call rotas and communicate the plan to all those involved.
Liaise with recruitment department in respect of the recruitment of Junior and middle grade doctors.
Plan, organise and facilitate the Junior Doctors Induction Programmes, and ensure medical staff compliance with Health Board Policy and National Terms and Conditions of Service for non-consultant medical staff.
Develop compliant Junior Doctor Rota’s within the Division and communicate to all relevant parties.
Record Doctors sickness, annual leave and professional leave as per Health Board Policy and alert the relevant consultant of all absence highlighting any impact on rota commitments and service delivery.
