Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum.

This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job overview

The key duties of the role will be to develop therapeutic activities for the patients by setting up Individual/Group activities and discussions on the ward to provide patients with Physical and mental stimulation. 

Under the supervision of the ward manager the post holder will be expected to:

  • Use specialised creative skills to plan and provide a flexible, patient centred programme of therapeutic activities for individual/groups of patients
  • Coordinate a designated programme of therapeutic activities provided within the team
  • English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply

 

Main duties of the job

To assist the development and implementation of therapeutic care packages and activities.

To develop positive relationships with patients and the team.

Assessing individual patients’ ability to undertake activity programme

To develop a general understanding of Clinical Governance, always participate in clinical governance supervision and act within the health board’s Clinical Governance framework

To assist in the formulation/implementation/evaluation of care plans under the supervision of a qualified nurse and to undertake standardised assessment of the patients as directed by the care plans

To assist the service user, as required, with their physical, personal hygiene and nutritional care needs, ensuring security, privacy and dignity is maintained.

To report back to relevant professionals regarding activity work being undertaken support, guidance, and evaluation

To ensure that the relevant senior team member is made aware of any change observed in a patient’s condition, or a circumstance that contributes to the safety of the patient or others

To maintain and protect confidential information relating to patients

To undertake and participate in statutory, mandatory training and in service programmes

May demonstrate own duties to new starters.

To ensure safe use of shared equipment used in patient activities on the ward.

To ensure that the service user’s dignity, integrity, respect, and individuality is always maintained.

  • Numeracy, literacy level 2 or equivalent
