Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Clinical Lead Nurse Manager  to work as part of our specialist Older Adult Mental Health inpatient team on Annwylfan Ward

We are looking for an experienced RMN who is highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic, who will demonstrate commitment to the ongoing development of our inpatient service. You will need the necessary clinical experience to lead and model excellent care delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring that high standards of care are delivered and maintained to patients admitted to our ward.

The ward currently provides 16 in-patient Dementia assessment beds treating individuals with various mental health diagnosis, within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB). The successful post holder will in the absence of the ward manager oversee the management of the ward and therefore leadership qualities, skills and attributes would be essential for the successful candidate.

As Clinical Lead Nurse you will be responsible for the assessment and implementation of high quality care to patients who are admitted to the inpatient environment. A key role is to provide support to patients and their families and loved ones during the admission and facilitate safe discharge.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is a key member of the in-patient multi-disciplinary team, working within a patient centred service. There is a need to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork, with strong leadership skills. The post holder will deputise for the ward manager. To be responsible for coordinating, delivering, and maintaining a high standard of clinical care for all patients. To provide support to the ward manager and clinical leadership to the ward team. To provide guidance and supervision of junior nursing staff. To ensure that systems are used to incorporate Essence of Care, as well as any other adopted models of quality assurance and clinical governance into everyday practice. The post holder will have an interest in furthering their clinical skills and will undertake further training as required.

To work within codes of practice and professional guidelines

The post holder may be required to work in other areas of the Health Board to meet service needs.

The successful applicants will be keen to develop junior staff and will embrace the benefits of clinical supervision. The post holders will be supported to further develop their skills in this role, as part of a clinical progression pathway.
