Job overview

BAND 6 DIETITIAN - ACUTE AND RENAL

Full Time | Permanent

Fast-Track Band 5 to Band 6 development would be considered depending on experience

We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic dietitian to join our Adult Acute Dietetic Team.  Within this role there is an opportunity for fast-track development to Band 6 once the agreed competencies have been achieved.  We also welcome applications if you are already working within renal as there is a possibility to move straight into a Band 6 position.

We are a small and friendly team that includes a range of dietitians from senior to newly qualified, dietetic assistants and secretarial support.  Professional development is encouraged and supported through supervision and objective setting.  You will be allocated time for studying and shadowing experienced senior dietitians.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and proactive dietitian, with good clinical knowledge, communication and team working skills.  This could be a great opportunity to continue to develop your current skills.  The post-holder will be responsible for covering outpatient clinics which will be comprised of patients with a range of conditions including IBD, type 2 diabetes, coeliac disease, weight management, nutrition support, irritable bowel syndrome, neurological conditions and lipid modification.  You will provide cover to a range of wards including stroke, surgical, orthopaedic, respiratory, cardiology and care of the elderly.  Further to your clinical roles you will be expected to provide support during events such as Nutrition and Hydration Week and Dietitians’ Week.

All dietitians are actively involved in student training and host training to placement students from The University of Hertfordshire.  You will be actively involved in these training programmes and in the development, implementation and audit of patient care practices as part of clinical governance.  There will also be opportunities to develop supervisory skills through mentoring junior members of the team.

Working for our organisation

The James Paget is a vibrant university hospital providing the best possible care to the people of east Norfolk and north Suffolk.  The hospital is situated on the Norfolk coast, close to sandy beaches, open countryside and the beautiful Norfolk Broads.  We are able to walk to the sandy beaches of Gorleston, get an ice cream and back all in a lunch break!  It is within easy access to the fine city of Norwich which has excellent shopping, night life, and good road and rail links to London.  The local area provides a wide range of affordable accommodation making this an attractive place to live.  We are the largest local employer in the area.  Onsite parking is available.
