Job overview
Are you passionate about working with children and young people who may have challenges within the areas of social communication and/or attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity? We are excited to be able to offer a new opportunity for a Band 4 Assistant to join the Gt Yarmouth and Waveney Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team. The Neurodevelopmental Assistant will be working alongside a friendly, busy and dynamic, multi-disciplinary assessment team. This includes Peadiatrician’s, Clinical Psychology , Neurodevelopmental Specialists and Practitioners with a variety of backgrounds including Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Children's nursing, learning difficulties, child development and mental health. You will also be working closely with our Neurodevelopmental administrative coordinators.
Main duties of the job
This is an ideal role for someone with experience in child development, neurodiversity, or supporting children with additional needs - whether you come from a therapy assistant, support worker, education, early years or community care background.
The role will involve supporting the team's assessment pathway, which will include undertaking your own assessment work, under the supervision of senior clinical staff. These may be based in clinics, educational placements, or other community settings across the Gt Yarmouth and Waveney area, therefore a full driving license is essential to this role.
The successful applicant will hold exceptional organisational skills and have the ability to manage a busy but varied workload. A pro-active and highly professional approach in providing both verbal and written communication is essential to this role, as you will be responsible for writing reports, liaising with other professionals and attending diagnostic meetings. You must have the ability to work both independently and as part of the team. You will also need to demonstrate an understanding of neurodiversity and other additional needs to adapt your own communication skills and therapeutic use of self, to meet the needs of the children, young people and families you work with.
Working for our organisation
We want to attract the best and brightest people to work with us and that means we will look after you from the moment you apply for a role at the Trust and throughout your career with us. Our staff are central to everything we do, and we believe that investing in you is crucial if we want to enable you to reach your full potential.
