The Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician will learn to perform the duties of a hospital-based Pharmacy Technician under the support and guidance of Pharmacy Staff.
As a Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician you will complete competencies in the workplace and the Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice, which is delivered by the University of East Anglia.
On commencement of the two-year course the post-holder will be based in the dispensary building the Pharmacy Technician foundation skill set, which includes receiving prescriptions, labelling and dispensing medication, accuracy checking medication, counselling patients and providing our patients with great customer service.
Main duties of the job
Attend all study days at the University of East Anglia as required. Which includes not taking annual leave in designated UEA study days.
Ensure all evidence requirements are completed and uploaded to their online portfolio before the submission deadline date, having ensured comment is received from their Educational Supervisor prior to submission and ensure study time is used effectively and completing additional study at home as necessary.
To achieve the Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice in order to be eligible for registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C/level 4 or above to include English, Mathematics and Science
- Undertake and successfully complete the Pharmacy Technician Level 4 qualification over the course of the contract
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or a GPhC accredited pharmacy assistant programme
Skills and Experience
Desirable criteria
- Previous dispensing experience in a hospital, community pharmacy or dispensing doctor's practice
- Previous pharmacy experience

- Articulate and numerate with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as able to demonstrate working on own using initiative and common sense
