Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Support Medical Administrator to join the Respiratory department (working across Medical Secretaries and Clinical Teams) at the James Paget University Hospital.

The post holder will work 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

This role will consist of transcribing digital dictation in relation to outpatient clinic letters and other documentation as required for the patient pathway. Administrative duties will also be required to provide support to the medical secretaries and clinical teams as required. 
 
All applicants should possess good levels of communication skills, have excellent touch typing/word processing skills with attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team. Good basic IT skills and experience working within an admin role are also essential. Knowledge of medical terminology would also be an advantage.

Essential criteria
  • OCR/RSA 11 (or equivalent) Typing/Word Processing qualification or equivalent measurable level of keyboard skills.
  • English GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent

  • Good IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to different working practices and environments
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate documentation

Experience

  • A minimum of 6 month’s typing/word processing experience to include administrative duties
