Do you like ice-cream and seaside rock, 180o skies and golden beaches then it may be time to consider a move to join our welcoming Audiology Team on the “Sunrise Coast”.  We are a friendly department currently enjoying low wait times for all aspects of our service; we receive excellent feedback from our both our patients and staff Friends and Family Tests.  This post offers the opportunity of maintaining & advancing your diagnostic & rehabilitative skills in vestibular, paediatric and complex adult work.

 The Audiology Department at the James Paget University Hospitals NHS FT offers a comprehensive and fully embedded diagnostic and rehabilitative service for both adults and our assured paediatric service. We provide a Hearing Therapy service, and a hospital based NHSP. We are an established training site and encourage continuing professional development. We also participate in National research programmes. Our department offers great facilities and a positive working environment.

 We are searching for a forward-looking and enthusiastic person to join us. You will be expected to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team and as such have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will hold a BSc in Audiology (or equivalent qualifications) or nationally recognised qualification in Audiology and have appropriate post qualification experience in an NHS Audiology Service. You will be registered with the AHCS/HCPC or working towards registration.  

 

 

Main duties of the job

The role will include providing audio/vestibular testing as well as routine and specialist clinical services to Adults and Paediatrics; working within a multi-disciplinary team and in working towards IQIPS accreditation. This comes at an exciting time as we extend into our Community Diagnostic Centre and are involved with the planning the new hospital which is due to open early in the 2030s . 

The post is full time, but there is the opportunity to work flexible hours within a 4/5 day week or 9 day fortnight.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Audiology or equivalent audiological or graduate qualification
  • Registered with the AHCS, RCCP / HCPC as a Clinical Scientist

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate in-service training in audiology
  • Competent in all aspects of routine audiology
  • Experience of working within an NHS audiology department
  • Experience of working in an extended role/higher level
  • Experience of vestibular testing
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of paediatric testing
  • Experience of complex Adult testing

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (written & oral) with an approachable & personable manner
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy workload, accurately follow instructions, work on own initiative when required and keep accurate timely patient notes
  • Good dexterity, fine motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination
