An exciting vacancy has arisen within the Infection Prevention & Control Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our friendly & supportive team.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be required to:

v Monitor patients within the Trust who have been identified with alert organisms and provide advice to patients, relatives and staff.

v Undertake audits e.g. hand decontamination, environmental etc

v Undertake surveillance and interpret data e.g. National surgical site surveillance programmes, adhoc surveillance as required.

v  Provide education and training to all staff groups.

v  Review/write policies and action plans.

v Undertake Root Cause Analysis for various infections e.g. C diff, MRSA, and during periods of increased incidence and outbreaks.

Good communication and teaching skills are essential and a working knowledge of current UKHSA guidelines and infection control experience are also desirable.

Education and training of trust staff is a major component of infection prevention & control and therefore the successful candidate must be confident to deliver training to small and large groups.

Infection Prevention & Control is a rewarding but very challenging role and it is important the successful applicant is able to prioritise competing demands and is able to respond to challenges and conflict in a calm, confident manner.

As the subject of Infection Prevention involves keeping up to date with the latest research and guidance, the successful candidate is encouraged to undertake a recognised Infection Prevention course, attend relevant conferences and keep themselves up to date.
