Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a  Receptionist to join our Central Treatment Suite Team within the Division of Surgery.

This is a highly diverse, demanding but rewarding role. The successful candidate will be a confident individual who thrives on challenge and a high workload. You must be organised, have the ability to work under your own initiative and able to prioritise a competing workload.

Applicants must have a flexible approach to working practices to meet the needs of the service and have administrative experience. The post-holder will be required to provide a highly efficient administrative service for the Outpatient Department.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a dedicated administrative team that supports patient care within the clinical outpatient environment and provides a focal point for receiving patients, relatives and carers attending for an outpatient appointment.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 4 GCSE's grade D or above including mathematics and English or equivalent e.g. level 2 literacy and numeracy qualifications
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 2 in Customer Care or administration experience including recent face to face working with the general public

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Basic knowledge of the Receptionist role
  • Knowledge of the importance of confidentiality and data protection issues in a healthcare environment
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Experience of working with clinical teams (
  • Experience of working with NHS IT systems

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good keyboard/IT skills with the ability to accurately input data
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Good organisational/time management skills with the ability to demonstrate intiative when balancing work demands
  • Ability to work in a pressurised working environment with frequent interruptions
