We are seeking a compassionate, reflective and resilient Assistant Psychologist to join our Acute Services, working across the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team (CRHT) and the Adult Acute Inpatient Ward at Northgate Hospital, Great Yarmouth. This role will support the delivery of psychologically informed care for individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties and periods of crisis.

Working under the supervision of qualified Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapists, the Assistant Psychologist will contribute to psychological assessment and intervention, including the development and dissemination of formulations across services, and co-facilitating group interventions on the inpatient ward. The post holder will collaborate in the development, adaptation and administration of self-help and psychologically informed materials, and assist in implementing the use of outcome measures to support clinical work, audit and service evaluation.

Main duties of the job

·       To support the delivery of psychologically informed care to individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties within the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team and Adult Acute Inpatient Ward.

·       To carry out protocol-based psychological assessments under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, including the use of self-report measures, outcome measures, structured observations and semi-structured interviews.

·       To assist in the formulation and delivery of psychological interventions with service users, in line with agreed care plans and under appropriate supervision.

·       To support and co-facilitate therapeutic group interventions on the inpatient ward (e.g. CBT, and DBT informed groups), in collaboration with psychology and multidisciplinary colleagues.

        To contribute psychological perspectives within multidisciplinary team meetings as appropriate to the role.

·       To support qualified psychology and psychotherapy staff in the planning and delivery of psychologically informed training for staff working within or alongside acute services.

·       To administer, collate and input clinical and service related data, including routine outcome measures, to support audit, service evaluation and research activity.

·       To work flexibly across inpatient and community based acute services, adapting to changing service needs while maintaining professional boundaries and self-care.
