Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Art Psychotherapist to work in a fixed term post for 6 months, 22.5 hours a week, based across two wards, Older Adults acute ward (Willows) and Avocet Ward, for female adults of working age.

We are looking to appoint an Art Psychotherapist who is relationally skilled and able to work safely with service users with complex presentations who might otherwise struggle to engage in psychological therapy. You would be expected to apply a trauma informed, systemic understanding of the service users’ difficulties, for assessment, formulation and risk within the MDT. You would be expected to contribute to reflective practice, care and recovery planning and safer discharges, liaising with the community teams and relatives/carers. The role will contribute to strengthening and developing the existing provision of Art Psychotherapy in Willows ward, alongside the 8a Art Psychotherapist and to initiate new Art Psychotherapy provision to Avocet Ward.

The appointed Art  Psychotherapist will be part of an NSFT Suffolk wide professional network of Arts Therapists and be supported by the Lead Art Psychotherapist, who will provide regular clinical supervision in accordance with HCPC requirements.

The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously within professional guidelines, to promote evidence-based practice and utilise clinical skills for audit and service development.

The post holder will contribute to clinical discussions and decision making alongside the wider multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will work collaboratively with family members, carers where possible and appropriate, to support and understand a systemic view of the service users difficulties
