A rare and exciting opportunity for a Senior Community Nurse has arisen within our Suffolk Community CAMHS team for Children with learning disabilities.

As a team we continually strive to develop the services we offer, to ensure they’re high quality and evidence based. To support our aims, we are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to join our dynamic multi- disciplinary service. You’ll be joining an innovative Multi disciplinary team working collaboratively with multiple agencies and professional clinicians.

Our service covers the geographical area of East and West Suffolk and you’ll be responsible for managing a caseload from our base in Ipswich.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate should possess excellent and varied communication skills, enjoy working as part of a team, and working closely with colleagues from a range of disciplines. You will be able to work independently, carry out comprehensive assessments and plan, implement and evaluate delivery of nursing interventions as part of the holistic approach.

You will also be able to demonstrate that you are able to apply your nursing skills to a wide range of situations, in working with children with a learning disability and families living in the community across Suffolk. 

We have a culture of continued learning, working as a close LD mental health specialist pathway.  The team hold monthly protected days which includes a variety of training, reflection, supervision and service development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Please note, you must have a full and valid driving licence due to the community element of the role and the large geographical area that the LD CAMHS team cover.

The team is based in Ipswich and there will be an expectation of travel. Due to the nature of community health services, the successful candidate will have a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist OR Social Worker with the relevant professional registration
  • Ongoing professional development working towards degree level ( if professional registration is following a diploma level course)
  • Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor training (NMC registrants) or Practice Educator (AHP & Social Worker Registrants)
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised Leadership/Management training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience
  • Experience in working in team delivering person centred treatment packages
Desirable criteria
  • Previous community experience

Other

Essential criteria
  • Ability and willingness to travel independently to meet the needs and requirements of the service
