Neurodevelopmental Disorder (NDD) Practitioner

Band 6

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing, older people's and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk.

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and want to reflect the diversity of our local communities within our teams.  We welcome applications from all talented individuals with the relevant qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience

Job overview

We are excited to recruit to a full-time, AfC Band 6 Practitioner within Neurodevelopmental Pathway.

The NDD pathway in Suffolk includes the Integrated Community Paediatric Service (ICPS), the County-Wide Children’s ADHD Service and the LD CAMHS Service. There is a broad project underway to develop how we work-together in the pathway, and to further connect the pathway with other CAMHS mental health teams, and some voluntary sector and education-based services.

As part of our development of our Neuro Developmental Pathway we are looking for a skilled practitioner to work within our service to screen new referrals into the service.  This will be fast paced, with an expectation of reviewing new referrals for suitability into the service.  The expectation will be to ensure families have up to date communication in regards to their referral, swift response if they do not meet criteria and onward support services for families to use.

We are a friendly and innovative service skilled in needs-based assessment and in working with young people and their families to reach an understanding of their strengths and differences. We offer advice, brief intervention, and make recommendations and referrals based upon clinically established needs.

Main duties of the job

Applicants are welcomed from the fields of nursing, social work, and allied health care professions such as speech and language therapy and occupational therapy. Ideally you will have experience working professionally with young people with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism. We will also consider applications from newly qualified practitioners wishing to develop skills and expertise in this expanding and clinically evolving area of specialist practice.

Successful applicants will have opportunities for professional development and progression within the trust and this is strongly encouraged within our services. Examples of opportunities for development include non-medical prescribing, advanced health care practice therapies and use of specialist diagnostic tools.

Working for our organisation

Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.

We have strong, established professional networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for and cared about.

Why Norfolk and Suffolk? The people here are warm and welcoming, you’ll never be far from the beautiful coastline or Broads National Park. We’re an hour and a half away from London and have an international airport in Norwich too. Our villages, towns and cities are packed full of history, independent cafes, shops and theatres. We have excellent shopping, eating out, top ranking schooling and affordable house prices too.
