Job overview

To provide a medicines distribution service to Ambulance stations throughout the Trust, participating in the re-stocking of medicines against set parameters and the delivery and collection of medication from stations across the East of England NHS Trust sites.

Operations support provides a wide range of services to A&E Operations and is made up of:

  • Medical Devices/Clinical Engineering
  • Fleet/Workshops
  • Make Ready Services

The core focus is to support the Operational teams to be able to provide exceptional patient care, and to reduce the frequency with which crews are required to be stepped down from a call, increasing the availability of direct care hours to patients.

Operations Support is accountable for delivering and ensuring that across the Trust - a thousand vehicles are clean, roadworthy, well stocked and the equipment is sufficient and suitable for purpose and are readily available to Operations throughout each shift.

Main duties of the job

To assist in providing technical pharmacy support to EEAST to enable the Trust to improve the quality and care of patients. To assist with the deliveries of medication to our Ambulance stations across the East of England. 

Ensure accurate stock levels and stock rotation across the Trust.

Help provide a high-quality pharmaceutical service to all users of the Trust under the direction of the Medicine Management Supervisor and the Medicines Management Lead.

To provide a medicines distribution service to Ambulance stations throughout the Trust, participating in the re-stocking of medicines against set parameters and the delivery and collection of medication from stations across the East of England NHS Trust sites.

To record, audit and report on the use and compliance of medicines from across the Trust.

Ability to report back any concerns regarding, sensitive and sometimes contentious situations where specialist advice and instructions have been delivered to a wide range of groups, requiring them to understand and adapt working practices which may affect patient care and service delivery.

The job will provide the ability to work within a large NHS Trust, collaboration across multiple directorates, project work, audit, compliance, standards of practice, regulatory body awareness and teamwork.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Essential Microsoft office package, data entry and basic database management skills
  • Ability to multitask and priorities’ workloads using methodical and systematic approach
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of current legislation relevant to Medicines
  • Understanding of the national guidance relating to the exemptions for Paramedics

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE of C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable criteria
  • Certificate in Medicine Management
  • Holds an NVQ Pharmacy Service Level 2/ with accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science) or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience or ability of working with a range of different professions at all levels of responsibility within organisations
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with in Medicines Management
