My name is Laura Burton I am the Dispensary Manager of the Pharmacy Department based at Kingfisher House, Hellesdon Hospital. I am privileged to lead our very hardworking, friendly, and committed Dispensary team in providing a dispensary service, supplying inpatient, outpatient, and discharge medication to Patients of the NSFT.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated apprentice to join the dispensary with a positive outlook to join our team training towards a level 2 pharmacy Assistant qualification. This candidate will need to have a positive and responsible attitude to work who can demonstrate good communication skills, team working, positivity and confidence in dealing with a changing work environment and processes and who is able to utilise their skills and experience that they will learn whilst on their apprenticeship across all areas of the role.

Within this role you will receive full training to qualify as a Pharmacy Assistant. You will receive training from a selected provider, Buttercups and will also receive inhouse training in all the dispensary areas. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop transferable and specialised skills and potential further development within the NHS and a pharmacy career

Main duties of the job

The Apprentice role is varied, and requires flexibility in your approach to work and learning, working in both dispensary and stores and some ward work on the Hospital site.

The post holder will assist in reception duties and the general dispensing of medicines. The post holder will receive and check deliveries of pharmacy stock, assist in the invoice process, assemble stock medicines for delivery to wards/departments and assist in the return of medicines.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is an apprenticeship training post which is for fifteen months The dispensary team is a friendly and hardworking team of staff ranging from band 3 Assistants through to band 7 Technicians.

This is a full-time dispensary-based position, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, with working hours of 8:30-16:30,
