Job overview
Reed ward are looking for a band 6 charge nurse to work as part of an exciting, patient focussed dynamic team. We are looking for an experienced nurse who is passionate about providing high quality care. You must have excellent communication skills. While experience of working with older persons is desirable we would also welcome applications from mental health nurses with transferable skills.
Reed ward is located at the Julian hospital. It is a an older persons organic ward with 13 female beds. We work closely with families, carers, service users and external agencies to provide high quality holistic care
The successful applicant will receive support and mentorship as well as bespoke training to complement existing experience.
Main duties of the job
You will work supportively and collaboratively with the clinical team leader ensuring the effective management of the ward in all respects, environmental, financial and clinical in so far as this relates to nursing practice.
Your duties will also include the planning and delivery of direct patient care with appropriate supervision, ensuring continuity of practice and working within a multi-disciplinary team.
As a senior nurse you will be expected to provide clinical leadership to staff in various areas of practice, adhering to the philosophy and clinical skills base of the unit.
You will monitor nursing practice on a day to day basis and ensure that nursing compliments the practice of other professionals.
You will be a crucial part of working collaboratively within our MDT, providing holistic care packages for individuals and families on the ward.
You will be required to work shifts across a 24 hour period in order to meet the needs of the service and actively participate in the duty senior nurse roster for the Julian hospital.

- Signed off as a mentor/supervisor
- Registration with the NMC

- Post-graduate diploma or equivalent experience
