We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and want to reflect the diversity of our local communities within our teams.  We welcome applications from all talented individuals with the relevant qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience

Job overview

There is an exciting opportunity available for an Activity Worker to join our multi disciplinary team on Sandringham ward at the Julian Hospital. Supporting people through their mental health journey.

We pride ourselves on working together and supporting each other to provide the best care possible for those using our service. Sandringham ward is a 16 bed male mental health admission ward. We work with older adults who require admission and treatment to hospital for different mental health conditions not related to dementia.

In post, you will be supported by a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, Band 4 Technical Instructor and the rest of the nursing team.

Main duties of the job

Are you an ace at activities, excellent at promoting engagement and superb at supporting people with mental health needs? If so, we would love to work with you on Sandringham ward.

As a unit we pride ourselves on working together to deliver high quality care and to support each other through any challenging times.

We recognise that working with the same methods doesn't work forever; and we will continue to challenge the way we do things to create the best services we can, centred on the people who use them.

We are focused on Quality Improvement led care delivery and are looking for energetic people who want to make a difference and be part of dynamic teams who like to think outside of the box. The development of activity worker roles is an example of this and is seen as a way to support activity and engagement for those people admitted to hospital.

You will be responsible for facilitating, overseeing and planning a range of person centred activities for our patients. This will be both 1:1 and group activities. The ideal person will need to work as part of the wider team but also autonomously in the delivery of these activities.
