Employer heading
Occupational Therapist
NHS AfC: Band 6
Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing, older people's and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk.
We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and want to reflect the diversity of our local communities within our teams. We welcome applications from all talented individuals with the relevant qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience
Job overview
We are the first eating disorder services in the East of England to develop a mini-team focused solely on the treatment of children and young people with Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). The ARFID mini team has been operational since April 2023. This team is integrated within the existing under 18’s specialist eating disorders service in Norfolk and Waveney.
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team to cover maternity leave for 6months.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the continued development of the service as an Occupational Therapist. You will be joining a small, friendly team of multi professionals who are passionate about providing good care to this population of young people and their carers.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced, preferably with experience of working with young people and their families, but experience with young adults or adults with eating disorders is also relevant. The successful applicant will be required to work within national guidelines and have excellent team working skills.
The base is Hellesdon Hospital, but travel to other sites will be required.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide leadership on planning, co-ordination, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality evidence-based and person-centred Occupational Therapy provision to young people with ARFID, and relating to eating difficulties who require assessment and/or treatment by the ARFID team.
You will be supported within the team by senior clinicians and will work closely with other specialists within the service. Clinical supervision and professional leadership will be provided.
There are excellent opportunities for professional development within the team through supervision, training, team CPD and wider Specialist Services and Trust events.
To provide a qualified, high-quality specialist psychology service to individuals, carers, families, and groups, within and across teams; and to provide an active contribution to service development of the ARFID pathway.
To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.
To use analytical and judgment skills and be responsible for taking clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues.
Working for our organisation
Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.
Why work for us? We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey. We have strong, established professional networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for and cared about.
