We are inviting applications for an enthusiastic Speciality Doctor to work with our ARFID Team. This is a 0.5 WTE Speciality Doctor post working in the ARFID children’s service. It is a fixed term post for up to one year. This will be a community post there are no inpatient responsibilities.
The postholder, together with other members of the multidisciplinary team will be expected to assess new referrals, assess and be part of the treatment for children and young people aged 0 to 18 years old, presenting with ARFID. The role would include attendance at weekly team meetings and reviews, as well as providing appropriate clinical support and supervision to non-medical staff within the team.
The post holder may be expected to work in a number of different settings within the Trust, including other Trust facilities, primary care, local acute Hospital NHS Trust facilities, Children’s Centres and patients’ residences.
Main duties of the job
We developed a new Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) pathway within Suffolk CFYP to meet the needs of our children and young people who may otherwise struggle to access a specific care pathway; this has been identified by the ICB as a priority area of service development.
· To work with the multidisciplinary team, including Community Nurses, therapists and dietitians in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of referred patients; take part in team meetings, supervision and development within the Suffolk Children’s ARFID service.
· The post holder will undertake, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances and to be available for such irregular commitments outside normal duties as are essential for continuity of patient care which will on occasion involve seeing people at home and allowing time for ‘hard to engage’ children and families.
· The job plans and working patterns of doctors reflect the functional requirements of the Locality and the National Service Framework for Mental Health and are not determined by catchment area. These job plans will be subject to a review with the associate medical director annually.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full registration with the GMC with licence to practice
- Registered Medical Practitioner
Desirable criteria
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Section 12(2) approval – At or following appointment
Experience
Essential criteria
- 3 years as a doctor post registration
- The diagnosis and treatment of complex mental illness
- The management of complex mental health need
Desirable criteria
- Relevant experience in psychiatry
- Experience of implementing service change to enhance the quality of patient care.
- Experience of leadership and management.
- Medical experience outside psychiatry.
Clinical Governance
