Dietitian  -  Adult Eating Disorders

Are you a passionate and skilled Dietitian looking to make a difference in the lives of adults with eating disorders? We have an exciting opportunity to join our multidisciplinary community eating disorders team based in Suffolk.

You will work alongside an experienced Specialist Dietitian, helping to enhance and develop our services for adults with eating disorders. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to build your knowledge and experience of eating disorders and mental health dietetics. You will benefit from the wider network of eating disorder dietitians working across the trust.

Clinical work is varied and hugely rewarding. You will work with patients through the nutritional and physical consequences of eating disorders providing advice to patients at all stages of their treatment. This includes community clinics, group education and supporting acute hospital admissions.

We welcome applications from Dietitians with experience but also sound transferable skills and an interest in this fascinating clinical field. We are a cross-county team so some work across the Suffolk locality may be required.

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

This role expects you to act as a source of expertise on the dietary management of eating disorders to the multi-disciplinary team, community health professionals and others involved in the care of our patients. This includes liaising with colleagues in the local acute trust.

Clinical work is varied and hugely rewarding. You will work with patients through the nutritional and physical consequences of an eating disorders providing advice to patients at all stages of their treatment. This will include patients at risk of re-feeding syndrome and patients with complex dietary needs. We offer dietetic care in a variety of setting including community clinics, groups and support acute hospital admissions

This is a change from being based in a traditional dietetic department and allows for significant personal and professional development. The eating disorders team is a supportive environment respectful of the dietetic role.

Person specification

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Dietetic Degree at BSc or MSc level
  • HCPC Registered Dietitian
  • Strong evidence of Eating Disorder related CPD (portfolio)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understands different approaches to managing underweight patients
Desirable criteria
  • FT AN trained (Family Therapy Anorexia Nervosa)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • A minimum of 2 years experience of working clinically either in a hospital or community setting and of working with an Eating Disorders service.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with people of all ages and families presenting with eating difficulties and managing complexities and / or Intensive Treatment Team service.
  • Working in a Community Dietetics service.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision.
  • Work flexibly to accommodate patient/service needs and team requirements.
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as individually.
Desirable criteria
  • Proven record of Multidisciplinary working
  • Able to use Lorenzo or other electronic notes systems
