Clinical Support Worker - SDEC

NHS AfC: Band 3

Job overview

**Please note this contract will expire on 3rd June 2026**

An exciting opportunity has arisen on the Same Day Emergency Care department to welcome a new Clinical Support Worker into our team.

Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) is a fast paced, rapid assessment unit for medical patients who have been referred by the Emergency Department (ED), wards within the hospital and primary care. The ambition of the unit is to deliver high quality care to patients within the same day in order to avoid a hospital admission- when safe to do so and also reduce ED attendances. Ensuring patients are in the right place, receiving the right care.

The right candidate will need to be motivated, eager to learn new skills, approachable and positive.

The unit's working hours are Monday to Friday 08:00- 20:00, Saturday 08:30- 17:00, with the potential to open Sunday in the near future.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Support worker you will have a range of duties including: prioritizing patient care, performing basic observations, patient weights, blood glucose levels and urinalysis.

In addition you will undertake more complex duties including phlebotomy,  Cannulation, ECG's, collating patient history and assisting with assessments. Which you will already be competent in.
