Job overview
We have a part time vacancy in the Maternity Services team and are looking for a compassionate and people-centred Ward Clerk to join our fantastic team on Delivery Suite. The vacancy will be for to work weekly on a Wednesday and Thursday, 8am-4pm.
Delivery Suite is one of two maternity wards at Harrogate Hospital who care for women during labour and birth. This includes induction of labour.
We are looking for someone who can cope well within a rapidly changing environment, who can multi-task and who can handle the often challenging demands of a busy ward whilst retaining team spirit.
Main duties of the job
As the Ward Clerk on Delivery Suite you will be required to:
- Maintain electronic records to ensure that patients are admitted and discharged in a timely manner.
- Collect and prep medical records.
- Answer the telephone and direct to the appropriate clinical member of staff to deal with queries.
- Liaise with patients and visitors on the ward.
- Report any estate or IT issues promptly to allow a fast resolution.
- Admit new born babies after caesarean sections, checking NHS number have been issued appropriately and pulled through to various systems.
- Liaise with the coordinator and have an awareness of forthcoming patients.
