Cancer Pathway Lead

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Cancer Pathway Lead to join our Cancer Services team and provide effective leadership and management of the Cancer Patient Pathway Co-ordinators.  We are a busy department and high performance against the national and local cancer targets is a priority for the Trust.

Key responsibilities include developing and providing a high quality cancer tracking and MDT support service, providing day-to-day line management of the Cancer Patient Pathway Co-ordinators and ensuring patient focused care and compliance with the National Cancer Targets and the National Cancer Strategy as part of the NHS Long-Term Plan.

The successful candidate must have line management experience and excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.  They must have a good understanding of the Cancer Waiting Times standards and associated targets, as well as knowledge of governance and processes.

Main duties of the job

Good time management, organisational and prioritisation skills as well as the ability to work under own initiative and under pressure to meet tight deadlines is essential.  You must be able to lead and motivate a team.  You will be someone who is willing to go the extra mile to deliver the best outcome for our patients.  You will proactively manage and track the progress of suspected and diagnosed cancer referrals on a designated cancer pathway to ensure each stage of the pathway is fully planned and booked, whilst working with colleagues throughout the Trust to ensure CWT targets are achieved.

Working for our organisation
